About the BARA Team
BARA is the joint venture team formed to provide construction management services for the new Parkland Hospital. The joint venture firms include: Balfour Beatty Construction, Austin Commercial, H.J. Russell & Company and Azteca Enterprises.
BARA team members have managed 7.2 million square feet of health care construction in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and have provided management services for some of the nation’s most well-recognized health care providers, including: Mayo Clinic, National Institutes of Health, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center. The BARA joint venture represents the resources of nearly 1,500 employees in the DFW area.
Balfour Beatty Construction (Balfour Beatty) consistently ranks as one of the nation’s largest building contractors, with regional headquarters in four of the largest building markets across the country. Balfour Beatty’s Dallas office has built some the area’s most recognizable landmarks.
Providing pre-construction and construction services for the new Parkland Hospital, they utilize the latest practices in design and construction. Their team includes experts in building sustainability, lean construction practices, Building Information Modeling and integrated delivery.
Austin Commercial is a recognized leader in commercial construction, building well-known infrastructures in the Dallas area. Austin has been named Contractor of the Year by the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association for its leadership in providing opportunities to M/WBEs.
For the Parkland Hospital project, Austin Commercial will provide pre-construction and construction services. Their experienced team members facilitate seamless transitions throughout each phase of the project.
For more than 50 years, H.J. Russell & Company has been a leader in the construction and real estate development industry. Recognized as one of the largest MBE construction firms in the country, H.J. Russell & Company offers a comprehensive range of services from real estate development to program and construction management.
On the new Parkland Hospital, H.J. Russell is responsible for pre-construction and construction management services as well as document controls. This role is critical on such a large-scale project to ensure all contractual obligations are met by the construction management team. It also ensures that the owner, program manager, design and construction teams are working together effectively.
Azteca Enterprises is a minority-owned company and is ranked 56th in the state of Texas for large construction firms. Azteca provides a full range of construction services varying from pre-construction, program management and general contracting to self-performance in civil, steel and interior finish-out.
Azteca is currently involved as a general contractor providing construction management services from pre-construction through construction on the Parkland project.
