Concrete Poured on Site of East Parking Lot
OCTOBER 9, 2010
Demolition of current structures on the Parkland campus continues to make way for the new buildings. The Parkland warehouse, Building A and Occupational Health building have already been demolished.
On the east side of the planned DART rail station, land has been leveled and work has begun on the East Parking Lot (EPL). Concrete has been poured over the site and the next stage of construction will be underway soon. Once complete, the lot will consist of 19 acres, 800,000 square feet of paving and approximately 1,956 new parking spaces.
The EPL is the first major construction milestone for the BARA team as they break ground. The bid packages were broken into nine scopes of work, including: site grading and erosion control, site drainage and utilities, landscaping and irrigation, signage, architectural fencing, site paving and sidewalks, parking controls, power and lighting, and site security and communications. Of these nine packages, four Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) were awarded prime contracts totaling more than $1.28 million.
